If you have claustrophobia, you avoid enclosed spaces. If you have arachnophobia, you stay away from spiders. Fair enough! But if you fear the dentist you may be inclined to avoid checkups. At Steven T. Cutbirth DDS in Waco, we know this is a bad idea.
Avoiding the dentist due to fear, or any other reason, puts your dental health at risk. The connection between your dental health and overall health is by now well-established, so skipping regular checkups puts your health at risk.
Help Is Here
A solution that works is sedation dentistry. We offer two types: oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation.
- Oral Conscious Sedation. This involves taking a prescribed sedative an hour or so before your appointment. It won’t put you out, but it will make you very groggy.
- IV Sedation. As the name implies, a strong sedative is adminsitered through a needle. It puts you in an even deeper state of relaxation.
With both of these sedation methods, you will need to have someone escort you to and from our office.
